Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade: Democrats ‘Taking Advantage of Republicans Who Might Have the Covid-19 Virus’
Fox News personality Brian Kilmeade has spread some misinformation about the Covid-19 global pandemic since the crisis began, claiming most recently on Monday that no-one had experienced a pandemic before. On Tuesday, Kilmeade accused Democrats of exploiting the illness to score points against Republicans.
“Think about this,” Kilmeade said. “You have five senators in quarantine, one testing positive for the Coronavirus some people say I feel bad for people in Washington who have to work so close in a situation so dire.”
“And others say that’s my opportunity to drive my own agenda home, not America’s agenda home and that did not elude the New York Post. The New York Post came up with this cover. ‘As Dems try to stuff Covid-19 bill with their own agenda, the Post says get out of way.'”
“And think about this. Not only Nancy Pelosi walks in with a 1,000 page bill that no-one saw and the House didn’t approve. Do you know who else? James Clyburn was heard. ‘This is a chance to do some restructuring’. ‘An opportunity’, is the quote, to restructure things to fit our vision.'”
“Your vision is taking advantage of Republicans who might have the Covid-19 virus. They have to find a way, Ainsley, they have to find a way to let these men and women vote remote. And when Susan Collins loses her cool, you know you’ve gone over the top.”
Democrats say the Covid-19 relief bill amounts to a slush fund for businesses and doesn’t contain adequate measures to protect workers. There would also be insufficient oversight of stimulus spending, Senate Democrats claim.
