MSNBC’s Kurt Bardella: Justice Department Is Trump’s ‘Personal Law Firm’ to ‘Inflict Revenge on His Enemies’
There are now serious concerns that President Donald Trump will use the Department of Justice to seek revenge on those who spoke out against him during the impeachment process. On MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Thursday, regular Willie Geist and frequent contributor Kurt Bardella gave voice to their worries.
“So Kurt Bardella, the President of the United States is getting exactly what he hoped for, which is a government,” Geist said.
“And not just the executive branch but the legislative branch and potentially the judicial branch as the Justice Department at least led by Attorney general Barr completely controlled by one man: Him.”
“The Justice Department now is basically his own personal law firm that he can use to inflict revenge on his enemies and adversaries,” Bardella said.
“What we’re seeing is incredibly disturbing. We’ve seen systemically here. First annihilating checks and balances with the executive branch, ignoring their subpoenas, not cooperating with their investigations, instructing people not to cooperate with Congress at all.
“Now he’s been left off the hook by Senate Republicans, we’re seeing him do the same thing to the Justice Department, we’re seeing him instruct the Attorney General to effectively go easy on his guys and go after his adversaries.”
