Joe Scarborough Predicts ‘Political Oblivion’ for GOP Senators ‘Rigging the Process’ for Trump

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough came down hard on Republican senators who are potentially vulnerable in this year’s elections. The Morning Joe host explained that when he was a congressman, who went to his voters to discuss controversial decisions with them. He contrasted some GOP senators unfavorably with his own experience.

“You don’t have to grab hold to Donald Trump’s coattails as he’s dragging you over the cliff into political oblivion,” Scarborough said. “And yet I’ve not seen a single Republican willing to trust their voters, willing to trust the base by simply telling them the truth.”

Morning Joe regular Mike Barnicle argued that conditions had changed since the 1990s. Republican senators would have a much harder time explaining to their voters why they were willing to allow a trial without witnesses to defend President Donald Trump.

Scarborough agreed.

“North Carolina voters are gonna know the process is rigged,” Scarborough said. “Maine voters are gonna now that Susan Collins is rigging the process. Colorado voters are gonna know that Cory Gardner is rigging the process. Arizona voters are gonna know that Martha McSally is rigging the process. Iowa voters are gonna know that Joni Ernst is rigging the process.”

“They don’t want the truth to come out. They don’t want the documents to come out. They don’t want the witnesses to see the light of the day. They don’t want Americans to know the truth. They’re rigging this system. And they’re the ones who will ultimately pay the political price.”
