George Conway: Trump’s Lawyers Are ‘Treating the Senate Like They’re Morons’

Conservative lawyer George Conway has criticized President Donald Trump’s legal team in the Senate impeachment trial, accusing them of acting like senators and the American public are stupid. Conway joins of criticism following the opening day of the trial.

“This is mendacious,” Conway said of Trump’s defense arguments. “This is deceptive and distortive.”

“The depth to which Trump’s lawyers will go to make these deceptive arguments, I mean they’re treating the American public, they’re treating the Senate like they’re morons,” Conway told CNN.

“It’s just outrageous,” he said.

While Conway has long been a public critic of Trump, he has only recently starting appearing on TV to offer his opinions. He is married to Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway and thus finds himself publicly opposed to the person she’s employed to represent.
