Fox News Contributor: Trump Should ‘Adopt’ Chicago and Baltimore to ‘Win the Black Vote’
President Donald Trump should ‘adopt’ the cities he’s harshly criticized, according to Fox News contributor Lawrence Jones. Jones was talking to Fox & Friends about Trump and his approach to minorities, framing the President as a champion of minorities and in particular African Americans.
“I have long said that the President should adopt a city,” Jones said. “What the President does well is build things. And so if you want to talk about Chicago, you want to talk about Baltimore, go in and adopt the city and show that you can make it work. The president has been around minorities his entire life.”
“The President has been around minorities his entire life. He knows how to communicate with the Charlemagne Tha Gods, the T.I.s of the world, the Kanyes of the world,” Jones said.
“And so if the Pesident were to take off the president hat for a second and Donald Trump the entertainer and go out there and Donald Trump the builder and do that, he would win the black vote.”
Jones was asked what adopting a city meant but offered only a vague response.
“Adopt a city, say, hey, I’m gonna build here,” Lawrence said. “I’m gonna show people how to do businesses in the city. Because he knows how to do that. Show others how to do that. It would work. People would say hey, this is a great model for the country.”
Jones appears to endorse Trump’s own suggestion that he personally intervenes in cities he’s attacked, a move that would likely face legal and political opposition.
