Howie Carr Says Impeachment Is Like Christmas for Democrats: They’re Looking for the Pony
Radio talk show host Howie Carr has mocked the impeachment inquiry, which will hold the first public hearings later today. Carr told Fox & Friends on Wednesday that Democrats will be looking for something that isn’t there, like kids on Christmas looking for a pony.
“I guess it’s like Christmas morning on Capitol Hill, you know, for the Democrats,” Carr told Fox’s Steve Doocy.
“They’re digging through that you-know-what, looking for the pony. There’s gotta be a pony in there somewhere for them. I don’t think they’re gonna find it though.”
“Howie, we’re not gonna hear anything new because they’ve already interviewed all of these witnesses behind closed doors,” Doocy said. “They’ve only leaks out the testimony that makes the President seem like he broke a million different laws. But ultimately, it becomes a TV show where the Democrats have got to make the case that their witnesses are telling the truth and the president should get kicked out of office.”
“I mean, witnesses to what though, Steve?” Carr asked. “You guys have been talking about it for weeks. This is hearsay. Anyone who has ever been in a courtroom or even watched a courtroom show on TV knows that hearsay evidence is not permissible.”
“And these guys work for the President of the United States. Even Vindman, the Russian born lieutenant colonel says the transcript is accurate. So, there’s no there there as Peter Strzok said of Russia. Same thing.”
Lt. Colonel Alexander Vindman was born in Ukraine. Not all the evidence collected so far qualifies as hearsay and there are specific exceptions to the hearsay rule that Trump’s defenders have been ignoring.
