Fox News Contributor: Trump ‘Actually Has a Heart for Chicago’
Fox News Political Analyst Gianno Caldwell has told Fox & Friends that politicians in Chicago should work with President Trump because he cares about the city. Trump has frequently attacked Chicago and it is a common right-wing talking point that the city is crime-ridden because of Democratic policies.
“You switched from liberal to conservative. What happened?” co-host Brian Kilmeade asked Caldwell.
“You know, it’s interesting,” Caldwell said. “Once I learned the distinctions of the two political systems, I learned that the ideology of the conservative movement, you talk about lower taxes. You talk about religious freedom. You talk about the fact that I can legitimately be what I want to be in spite of the circumstances.”
“That was something that I had to capitulate to. And felt it was me. I really did. The Republican Party is all about freedom and I talk about that in my book Taken for Granted about that particular freedom.”
“And the President went to Chicago last week and the superintendent of police did not meet with him,” co-host Steve Doocy said. He was referring to a speech the superintendent would not attend due to his opposition to Trump’s rhetoric.
“And that’s another interesting point,” Caldwell said. “You got the politicians in Chicago that continue to talk trash about the President, who actually has a heart for Chicago. And they need to work with this president.”
