Fox News’ Judge Napolitano Questions Trump’s Fitness for Office: He Disparages the Constitution
Judge Andrew Napolitano has strongly criticized President Donald Trump. In a new op-ed and video, the Fox News legal analyst said that the President is disparaging the U.S. Constitution but he cannot ignore it. Napolitano has been highly critical of Trump’s behavior in recent months.
Napolitano was not impressed by Trump referring to the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause as ‘phony’.
The Judge said it was ‘very unusual and largely unprecedented for the President of the United States, who took an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution, to disparage part of it.’
“If he can disparage it, can he overlook it?” Napolitano said. “No.”
“He has also criminally obstructed a Department of Justice investigation of himself but escaped prosecution because of the intercession of an attorney general more loyal to him than to the Constitution,” Napolitano wrote in the accompanying article.
“But threats to ignore parts of the Constitution are not matters of speech, taste or risk. They reveal character traits that question Trump’s fitness for office,” he wrote.
“When the President of the United States disparages a part of the Constitution, what does that tell us about how seriously he takes his oath of office?”
