Dan Bongino: Mueller’s Testimony Will ‘Blow Up Spectacularly In The Democrats’ Faces’

Dan Bongino dropped by Fox & Friends Monday morning to discuss Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony to Congress. Mueller is expected to appear on 15 May and Bongino is convinced that it will be a good day for President Donald Trump.

“I think this is going to blow up spectacularly in the Democrats’ faces,” Bongino said. “There are two key questions Republicans should ask of Mueller here. The first should be when exactly did you conclude, via your investigation, that collusion was a hoax?”

“The answer’s going to be telling because, remember, Brian, his first hire, Bob Mueller, on his team is Andrew Weissman a Department of Justice lawyer who had already been briefed about the provenance of the dossier, where it came from. So if he knew it was a political document when did precisely he tell Mueller this?”

Bongino was once again claiming the Mueller investigation started because of the Steele Dossier. This is not true and has been debunked many times. Bongino went on to discuss his usual talking points about the investigation, including the erroneous claim that the FISA court warrant was mishandled and that Hillary Clinton is somehow responsible.

Host Steve Doocy wanted to know who had written Mueller’s letter to Attorney General William Barr, a non-controversy that Bongino was happy to run with.

“Yeah. There seems to be some significant cognitive dissidence here,” Bongino said. “Mueller — Barr has already admitted they are friends. Bill Barr, I’m not putting words in his mouth, that Mueller called him. He said the letter wasn’t inaccurate but they were concerned a bit about the media coverage. You’re right. Who on your team then was so concerned and why didn’t you just pick up the phone rather than putting it down on paper? The answer is obvious. They wanted the letter leaked to Barr look bad.”

The hosts continued to push the ‘no collusion, no obstruction’ angle, while Bongino, as usual, defended the President.

“The left wants to paint Trump as this out-of-control guy who obstructs at every turn. Yet he never actually obstructs anything,” Bongino said. “Listen, the President doesn’t want Mueller — I wouldn’t want Mueller up there either. He investigated the guy for a hoax for two years. But he’s done nothing to stop him at all. The President actually asked Jim Comey in the Oval Office to investigate people in his satellite, if they were involved in this. Andy McCabe said there was no effort to obstruct. So I think the President’s handling this great. He’s entitled to his opinion like anyone else.”
