Fox’s Jesse Watters Corrected By Co-Host After He Confuses Gayle King For Robin Roberts
Oh, Jessie.
At the top of Wednesday’s broadcast of The Five, the Fox News panel discussed the off-the-rails and unbelievable interview of R&B singer R. Kelly by CBS News’ Gayle King. Kelly, accused of multiple accounts of sexual abuse against a minor, ranted and raved at King during the 80-minute interview, all while King calmly kept her composure and told him to his face he lacked credibility.
In an effort to both give King credit for the interview but smear her for past offenses, Jesse Watters took a shot at the CBS host, claiming that she made amends for a previous interview of hers.
“All of that is crashing down and he was acting like a child, throwing a tantrum,” he said. “And acting like he was the victim, like you are doing this to me and taking the responsibility for himself. I agree, hats off to Gayle King for totally redeeming herself after the [Jussie] Smollett fiasco.”
Ummmm, yeah.
Co-host Dana Perino immediately jumped in to let him know it was not King that interviewed Smollett after his alleged hate crime assault — it was ABC News’ Robin Roberts.
“Oh, I knew that,” a chastened Watters uttered, immediately covering his face as he awkwardly laughed at his gaffe.
“Sorry for Robin Roberts, out there,” he added. ” I apologize.”
