New Book: Trump Wrote An Enemies List With A Sharpie
A new book from former White House communications aide Cliff Sims is expected to reveal a host of interesting facts about President Donald Trump and his administration. The book has not yet been published but some news outlets have seen advanced copies and tidbits from the book have been revealed.
In the book, Team of Vipers: My 500 Extraordinary Days in the Trump White House, Sims claims that President Trump wrote a list of enemies with a Sharpie. Trump wrote the list in a huddle with Sims and his former bodyguard, Keith Schiller, who was also Trump’s close adviser. The list was written on White House stationery.
“We’re going to get rid of all the snakes, even the bottom-feeders,” Trump said, according to Sims’ account. It’s well known that Trump uses Sharpies frequently and he’s been known to write in gold Sharpie. Sims describes Trump as paranoid and suspicious of his own staffers.
On Monday, another excerpt from the book, published by Axios, claimed that Trump was obsessed with cable news graphics and had his staff print out chyrons, which he then critiqued. Trump reportedly believes that most people watch cable news on mute.
If the claim in Team of Vipers is true, it is grimly reminiscent of President Richard Nixon’s infamous enemies list which later became a serious embarrassment to the 37th president and was seen by many as evidence of his paranoia and vindictiveness.
Team of Vipers is the latest in a series of tell-all books about the Trump administration in the last two year’s. Some accounts have been accused of inaccuracies and being self-serving to the authors, but there is a major market for books ‘revealing’ information about this administration. Cliff Sims received a seven-figure advance from his publishers.
