MSNBC’s Ari Melber: ‘Not Trying’ To Make Hannity Look Bad, ‘He’s Doing That All By Himself’
With hip-hop megastar Kanye West meeting President Donald Trump in the Oval Office for an insane summit on Thursday, Fox News star and Trump shadow chief of staff Sean Hannity swooned over the ‘Gold Digger’ artist. Of course, Sean didn’t always like rappers hanging out in the White House, and MSNBC’s Ari Melber reminded the conservative commentator of that fact on Friday.
“Some of Trump’s boosters are so desperate to embrace this change of topic, they are contradicting themselves to hail this Kanye spectacle,” Melber noted at the top of The Beat, highlighting the time Hannity railed against Common visiting the Obama White House.
Melber played a clip of Hannity complaining about Common using the N-word and saying he doesn’t like how he talks about women contrasted with video of Hannity heaping praise on West.
“Kanye was open and honest,” Hannity proclaimed. “Kanye West meeting with President Trump. All he wants is answers. all he wants is solutions. All he wants is opportunities. That’s what impressed me.”
Melber then insisted that his intention wasn’t to make Hannity look foolish.
“We’re not trying to make Mr. Hannity look bad,” the MSNBC host said. “He’s doing that all by himself. Sean Hannity likes the new Kanye. That’s fine. He can change his mind. Let’s be clear.”
