Fox Business Host Defends CNN’s Jim Acosta: ‘Bad Form To Attack Him’ At Trump Rally
While covering President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in South Carolina Monday night, CNN chief Washington correspondent Jim Acosta found himself on the receiving end of heckling and chants of “Go home, Jim!” He also had numerous people approach the media pen just so they could troll him and tell him to “get the fuck out of here.”
While rally crowd’s treatment of Acosta was the source of amusement for at least one Fox News star, another Fox personality has come forward to defend Acosta and express her dissatisfaction with the attacks on him.
During a monologue on her Fox Business program Tuesday afternoon, host Trish Regan recapped what occurred at the rally before shaking her head and saying “not right” in a disappointed tone.
“They may disagree with some of Acosta’s reporting,” she noted. “But you know, Jim Acosta is just doing this job.”
She continued, “He’s out there reporting on the rally, and not only is it bad manners, it’s bad form to attack him.”
Regan went on to say this was part of a bigger conversation about the “lack of civility” on both sides of the aisle when it comes to political discourse. After bringing up Red Hen asking Sarah Huckabee Sanders to leave, Regan added that neither Acosta or Sanders should be “heckled.”
“We’re better than that, at least I hope we are,” she said before mentioning other incidents involving Kirstjen Nielsen and a congressional intern.
