CNN’s Kate Bolduan Ain’t Got Time For Scottie Nell Hughes’s Nonsense

One has to wonder just how sick and tired CNN anchors, reporters and hosts have to be of dealing with the recent influx of paid Trumpkins to the network’s staff of on-air commentators. On Monday, anchor Kate Bolduan made it pretty damn clear.

In a segment first highlighted by Mediaite, CNN commentator and Trump supporter Scottie Nell Hughes wasted minutes of airtime complaining about the fact that a panel of four didn’t have equal representation of Trump loyalists. In a discussion centered on Donald Trump’s feud with the Khan family, in which he’s disparaged a dead soldier’s mother and insinuated that he’d sacrificed as much as families of the fallen because he’s created jobs, Hughes whined that the panel showed media bias because poor Mr. Trump didn’t have others on there who would stand up for his decision to pick a fight with grieving parents.

Bolduan tried to point out that one of the other panelists was a Republican strategist, but that didn’t matter to Scottie. No. She wanted one of her other Trumpites in the conversation to support her crazy-ass assertions, like her previous day’s claim that Trump getting divorced twice was a sacrifice to this country. Another panelist wanted to know why it was on CNN to consistently try to placate and defend Trump, especially when he says something beyond the pale.

Eventually, after Hughes bogarted most of the time of the segment complaining how unfair it was to Trump, Bolduan told her that they’d need to take a break but reminded Scottie that she’d be on the following segment. (Obviously, Kate was tweaking Hughes about bias complaints, highlighting the fact that she would be involved in another discussion as well.)

After the commercial break, Bolduan finally let Hughes have it when the paid Trump defender went back to her complaints about the makeup of the panel. Unable to make a coherent argument about the topic and flailing, Hughes said that the panel was not “necessarily fair and balanced.” Well, here’s Bolduan’s response:

“Oh my gosh, Scottie, really if you want to waste more airtime talking about the weight of the panel go right ahead. I’m actually really surprised that you would go on this route rather than making a cogent argument for your candidate.”

Boom. Mic drop. That’s all she wrote.

Those watching live took to Twitter to give their reactions, including CNN’s media critic Dylan Byers:

It should also be noted that currently, CNN has four political commentators on staff (Hughes, Corey Lewandowski, Jeffrey Lord, Kayleigh McEnany) who do nothing but serve as Donald Trump defenders. According to CNN’s Brian Stelter, one can state that the network has seven Trump supporters among its paid contributors. And this doesn’t account for all the Trump surrogates or campaign staff members the network brings on for discussions and interviews.

So, it really is the height of irony for Scottie Nell Hughes, who is cashing checks to find brand new ways to justify Trump’s action on the daily, to bitch and moan about how CNN isn’t fair to The Donald.
