RNC Chairman Reince Priebus: “People Just Don’t Care” That Trump Mistreated Women

While the majority of Fox News has now decided to jump aboard the Trump Train, Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace has remained above the fray. Ever since Donald Trump announced his candidacy nearly a year ago, Wallace has refused to allow the former reality TV star to call in for interviews, something he’s gotten away with on nearly every other news show. The Fox anchor has also been tough with Trump, his lackeys and Republicans during interviews and discussions regarding the Trump campaign.

On Sunday, Wallace once again showed that he’s not going to be one of the ‘nice’ reporters that will merely serve as a Trump stenographer during an interview with RNC chairman Reince Priebus. Following up a week where the real estate mogul and supposed billionaire refused to release his tax returns, lied about pretending to be his own spokesman and was targeted by the New York Times over his mistreatment of women in the past, Priebus was given the unenviable task of defending the presumptive GOP nominee.

Priebus, likely fresh off of another Baileys bender, tried to play good soldier and justify Trump’s actions, but Wallace wasn’t having any of it. Bringing up the NYT investigative piece, Wallace asked the RNC head if he was disturbed and bothered about the allegations brought up in the article. Priebus responded that he “was the wrong person” to answer that question, leading Wallace to push back, “Why are you the wrong person? You’re the chairman of the party. This is your nominee, and they’re saying he has mistreated women.”

We were then treated to an amazing run around by Reince, who talked about hypocrisy from the Clinton and Democrats and some other shit. He also said that nobody cares about any of this.

“People just don’t care. I think people look at Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton and say, ‘Who is going to bring an earthquake to Washington, D.C.?’…I don’t think Donald Trump and his personal life is something that people are looking at and saying, ‘Wow, I’m surprised that he’s had girlfriends.’ That’s not what people look at.”

Well, Wallace wasn’t having any of it, and interrupted, hitting Priebus with the following:

“Whoa, forgive me, sir. It’s not whether or not he had girlfriends. The question is whether or not he mistreated women, whether he made unwanted advances, whether he humiliated women in the workplace. I don’t understand why you say people don’t care about that. And are you going to look into the allegations?”

Priebus, who was going through the DTs at this point, then completely contradicted himself, claiming that he’s “not saying people don’t care about it,” even though he JUST FUCKING SAID THAT 30 seconds earlier. He followed that up by trying to clarify his position, saying that “everything bothers” him and that he just thinks this story won’t stick, live everything else during the Rise of Trump.

Anyway, good work by Wallace to not allow Priebus to just spout talking points and pivot away from Trump’s blemishes and disturbing history. Now, if his colleagues at Fox would just follow his lead…
