Fox’s Trish Regan Agrees With Seb Gorka That CNN And MSNBC Are Doing ‘Putin’s Bidding’
During a Tuesday afternoon conversation with Fox News national security strategist and Sean Hannity Expanded Universe senior member Seb Gorka regarding Russia/Trump collusion, Fox Business host Trish Regan agreed with her guest that the other cable networks were doing “Putin’s bidding” by being “irresponsible about this stuff.”
With President Trump beginning the day by parroting Rudy Giuliani and tweeting that collusion “is not a crime, but that doesn’t matter because there was No Collusion (except by Crooked Hillary and the Democrats),” Regan began the segment by referencing the infamous June 2016 Trump Tower meeting arranged by Donald Trump Jr. to gather Russian dirt on Hillary Clinton. In Regan’s view, however, it is really much ado about nothing and the real foreign dirt gathering was being done by the Clinton campaign via Christopher Steele.
“Look, for goodness sakes, if you guys are going to get that worked up about a meeting, last time I checked, we’re allowed to exchange information all around the world,” she said. “You might have friends from Timbuktu. You’re allowed to talk to them.”
Regan continued, “Maybe they will tell you an interesting story on this, that, or the other. You should be able to get that information, but if we want to talk about somebody out there trying to dig up dirt on their opponent via a foreign source, for goodness sakes the Hillary campaign is out there in Russia doing it. Why is nobody complaining about that?”
Gorka responded with a lengthy diatribe about the left having double standards while calling the Steele dossier Russian propaganda and misinformation that was the “definition of collusion.” Meanwhile, he completely brushed off the Trump Tower meeting, stating it was nothing more than a Russian misrepresenting herself so she could talk about the Magnitsky Act.
“You know, look, I just think we have to be clear-headed about this stuff and, you know, when you’re out there, saying that Trump somehow colluded because his son took a meeting with someone who didn’t have anything to offer him,” Regan reacted. “Then, on the other hand, the other side is actually paying for this information, misinformation, from the Russians I think you know, in all fairness [Hillary Clinton] has got more problems than the Trump campaign does.”
After Gorka tossed out the usual right-wing talking points about the FISA applications to surveil Carter Page were illegally obtained because of the Steele dossier and that Hillary and FBI/DOJ leaders should be prosecuted for felonies and abuse of power, Regan opined that Vladimir Putin took advantage of the Obama administration to “get this controversy started.”
“That was out in the open for everybody to see,” She added. “They weren’t hiding anything. I make this point. Dr. Gorka, our politicians I fear, members of previous administration fell for this. They fell for what Putin basically laid out.”
This caused the ex-White House staffer to bring up recent critical remarks made by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), neoconservative columnist Max Boot, and ex-CIA chief John Brennan. Regarding Brennan, who he accused of being a communist, Gorka said the former intel chief was “doing Moscow’s bidding” by claiming Putin had something on Trump.
“It is bothersome to me,” the FBN host declared. “Members of the left and members of the media, I include CNN, MSNBC, anyone else in there that is being irresponsible about this stuff. You say they’re doing Putin’s bidding. I agree with you, Dr. Gorka.”
She continued, “You know what? We should be better than that. This Mueller investigation is really important and if there is anything we ought to be knowing about it but he has to be looking very hard — I don’t think the Trump campaign did anything collusion-wise but I’m very concerned about the members of the administration out there using information to spy on American citizens and I want someone to get to the bottom of that. Will Mueller do it?”
Gorka would conclude the segment by stating that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was acting like the founder of the KGB who said: “Show me the man and I will find you the crime.”
“Oh, of course,” Regan responded, noting that “that is not what we do in America.”
While Regan is now saying CNN and MSNBC are doing the bidding of a brutal autocrat, it wasn’t that long ago when she was calling for more civility as she stood up for CNN correspondent Jim Acosta after he was heckled at a Trump campaign event.
