‘Fox & Friends’ Criticize Biden for Not Naming a Republican He Might Pick for VP

Former Vice President Joe Biden made headlines on Monday for saying he would be open to choosing a Republican as his running mate if he wins the Democratic nomination for president in 2020. While many Democrats were taken aback, on Fox News on Tuesday there were also mixed feelings.

Biden said he would consider it but he couldn’t think of one Republican he would choose. The stand-in hosts of Fox & Friends took issue with that.

“Do you think he’s serious?” Rachel Campos-Duffy said. “I don’t. I don’t think that that’s gonna happen and the fact that he can’t even name one person that he would be willing to work with.”

Dean Cain praised Biden for being funny and there was some agreement that he was a likeable guy.

“I think what’s interesting about him too is that there is an element of Trump in there where you just don’t know what’s gonna come out of Joe Biden,” Campos-Duffy said. “I think that the voters really want that. You do feel like he is really telling you what he thinks. And I think that’s a positive thing for him. Although I don’t think that he would really do that. Democrats wouldn’t stand for it.”

Griff Jenkins referenced the late John McCain, who flirted with having a bipartisan ticket in 2008. However, McCain’s attempt to give the vice presidential spot to Joe Lieberman was met with outrage from Republicans. Jenkins was also critical of Biden.

“You would think that he would have an answer,” Jenkins said. “Mitt Romney, I don’t know, somebody at the tip of his tongue and he’s walking all over the stage not able to think of anybody. There’s 55 Republican senators. Just pick one and throw it out there. It’s a little bit disingenuous that he doesn’t have a name ready to go.”

Overall, Biden’s comment seems to have pleased no-one.
