Trump Demands Investigation of Obamas’ Netflix Deal in Early-Morning Twitter Rant

For whatever reason, President Trump has decided to squeeze in some whining about Barack and Michelle Obama’s production deal with Netflix around banging the war drums against Iran and complaining about the new sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

It’s good to have priorities:

The Obamas signed a deal with Netflix in May of 2018 that has them producing content for the streaming service. So far, the couple’s production company has released one documentary, with more material in development.

President Obama’s memoir is expected to be released in 2020. Michelle Obama’s memoir, Becoming, was released in 2018 and has sold well over 10 million copies worldwide.

Who knows why Trump is worked up about the Netflix deal now? Maybe no media companies are pursuing post-presidency deals with him and he’s jealous. Maybe he’s advancing the lunatic QAnon theory that book deals like the Obamas’ are cover for money laundering.

In any case, this is not the sort of thing the House Judiciary Committee has reason to investigate. Though if the Republicans win back the majority in 2020, who knows.
