Following In The Footsteps Of Lincoln, GOP Nominee Urges Americans To “Check Out Sex Tape”

For the fourth day in a row, Republican standard-bearer Donald Trump has made sure the Alicia Machado story remains front and center in the news cycle. Instead of allowing it to die down, Trump once again attacked the former Miss Universe via Twitter early Friday morning, this time calling her “disgusting” and a “con” while urging Americans to “check out sex tape” of Machado.

Don’t question his temperament. Donald Trump has the best temperament. AMAZING temperament. He can be more presidential than anyone in history. Believe me!

First thing’s first — there is no sex tape of Machado. After Machado’s so-called porn past that was hyped up by the right-wing fever swamp was debunked, they tried to continue to tie her to porn via a reputed sex tape. However, this ‘sex tape’ stems from her appearance on the reality show La Granja in which she supposedly was caught on video having sex with another castmate. (The show is sorta like Big Brother.)

However, when viewing the footage, all you have is grainy night-vision of two bodies writhing around under covers. Maybe they’re having sex, maybe not. But this can hardly be described as an explicit sex tape. And, it is quite likely, the whole thing was staged due to it being part of a reality show.

But the main thing we get out of this is that Trump, in response to his previous fat-shaming of Machado, has decided to add slut-shaming into the mix. The fact is, even if Machado was a porn star or had a number of sex tapes to her credit, that doesn’t excuse Trump’s behavior towards her in 1996. It has no bearing whatsoever. What she’s done with her life doesn’t matter.

But all Trump knows to do is deny, deny, deny and attack, attack, attack. He’s never, ever, ever wrong and he always has to come out the winner, regardless of the battle. So, just like with the Khan family and Judge Curiel, we see Trump smearing a minority from a position of power, even though there is no political upside to it. It is who he is. He cannot change.
