Newt Gingrich: Test Every American Muslim And Deport Those Who Believe In Sharia

With each heinous terrorist attack that occurs in the world, Donald Trump and Republicans try to up the ante with their bed-wetting fearmongering. Shortly after news broke that at least 80 people were killed and dozens more injured after a man drove a box truck through a massive crowd enjoying Bastille Day festivities in France, Trump immediately called into The O’Reilly Factor, agreeing with Bill-O that we’re in World War III.

However, his typically unhinged remarks paled next to those of one-time (maybe still?) Veep contender Newt Gingrich. A day after accepting a ride aboard Sean Hannity’s private jet to meet with Trump, the ex-Speaker of the House appeared on the square-headed host’s Fox show to give his completely rational and totally reasonable thoughts on this latest tragedy. Which were, essentially, to go full Nazi Germany.

After Hannity blathered on about how this proved political correctness is causing the destruction of European (psst, he means WHITE) society, he asked Newt to tell us what this means for America. Newty had thoughts.

First off, he let us know that the entire Western world is at war, and all Muslims are the enemy. Therefore, Americans need to do something about the enemy within.

“Western civilization is in a war. We should frankly test every person here who is of a Muslim background, and if they believe in Sharia, they should be deported. Sharia is incompatible with Western civilization. Modern Muslims who have given up Sharia, glad to have them as citizens. Perfectly happy to have them next door. But we need to be fairly relentless about defining who our enemies are.”

Fairly certain that is highly illegal. But, see, we are at war, and perhaps burning the Constitution is what we need at existential crises. (Except the 2nd Amendment…anything but that. That is SACRED!) Therefore, perhaps it is best we give total power to an authoritarian strongman. Because safety Trumps freedom. ROUND ‘EM UP, BOYS!

Next, maybe we should go start jailing people for even looking at inappropriate websites that might give them terrorist thoughts.

“Anybody who goes on a website favoring ISIS, or Al Qaeda, or other terrorist groups, that should be a felony, and they should go to jail. Any organization which hosts such a website should be engaged in a felony. It should be closed down immediately.”

Sort of like Orwellian thought crimes and Hitlerian book burning, all wrapped up into one.

Newt also thinks that perhaps we should be aiming much of our ire at a liberal elite, maybe someone with a Muslim-y sounding name.

“And we’re told to be reasonable, to be passive, to not judge. Well I just want to tell you tonight, everybody who watches this video, this is the fault of Western elites who lack the guts to do what is right, to do what is necessary, and to tell us the truth, and that starts with Barack Obama.”

When building a fascist regime, you gotta have a scapegoat who sympathizes with the common enemy.

And, finally, the common enemy needs to be monitored at all times, even if they’ve passed the other ‘tests’ and shown their loyalty to America, Land of the Free.

“The third step is — let me be very clear. You have to monitor the mosques. I mean if you’re not prepared to monitor the mosque, this whole thing is a joke. Where do you think the primary source of recruitment is? Where do you think the primary course of indoctrination is? You’ve got to look at the madrasas. If you’re a school which is teaching Sharia, you want to expel it from the country.”

How did Hannity react to this proto-fascist rant that would make Mussolini blush?

“That’s a powerful statement. I agree wholeheartedly.”

End scene.
