Dan Bongino: Defunding Police Would Be ‘Most Catastrophic, Deadly Decision’ in Modern U.S. History
Fox News’ Dan Bongino swore he wasn’t being hyperbolic on Monday when he said defunding police departments would be the deadliest decision in modern American history. Bongino told Fox & Friends that the idea was an ‘abomination’.
“You know, Brian, if this goes through, this defund the police abomination, it will be and this is not hyperbolic, the single most catastrophic deadly public policy decision we’ve seen in the modern history of the United States,” Bongino said.
“Make absolutely no mistake about it. People will die. Real people. Not Hollywood nonsense. Not movie types. Real people, kids, teenagers and adults will die. Think about the continuum from low level property crimes to murderers and terrorists. The message that sends to all of them. Go from the low end first.”
“Why even bother paying the train fare? Jump in the turnstile, just get rid of the turnstile. Who’s gonna pay? Oh no. they’ll pay because they’re gonna do the right thing. Really? Are you sure about that? Most people are gonna just walk right through.”
“What kind of a message do you think this sends to a murderer or a terrorist or a gang member or a drug dealer slinging crack on the corner of a neighborhood? Now that the police are gone, you think they’re going to go to the local social worker? ”
Bongino offered praise for social workers, but then returned to his point.
“Brian, this is complete insanity. I lived through the exact opposite with Rudy Giuliani when he bumped up the police force and said we’re gonna take care of every low level crime and cut off the high level crime. I assure you chaos will result. ”
