Fox’s Brian Kilmeade: Defunding the Police Is ‘Insane’, ‘Craziest Conversation’ in Decades
Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade was incredulous at the idea of defunding or abolishing police departments on Monday after a super majority of Minneapolis city council members pledged to do just that. The Fox & Friends host branded the idea ‘insane.’
“This is the craziest conversation and debate we’ve had in decades,” Kilmeade said.
“Defund the police, eliminate police force? Come in with a peace force? Come in with counselors? Call 311 not 911? If you want to reform and talk about it.”
“You put law enforcement at the table. Nobody’s happy about what happened. Eight out of 10 Americans are more concerned about police conduct than they are about the riots. I get it. I saw the Wall Street Journal poll as well.”
“But this is insane,” he said. “To take 700 to 800,000 people and tell – go do something else, hand in your uniforms, we got this.”
Kilmeade went on to attack the idea of defunding the police, which has gained significant traction during the protests surrounding the death of George Floyd. Conservatives had already indicated they would oppose any move in this direction.
