‘Morning Joe’: Biden ‘Has Opened Up an 11 Point Lead by Doing Almost Nothing’
Morning Joe co-hosts noted on Thursday how former Vice President Joe Biden is leading President Donald Trump in the polls despite not being able to properly campaign. MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Willie Geist discussed recent polling and what it means for November.
“Even though it is early, even though we were seeing some polls a week out that showed Donald Trump losing by 10, 11 points, if you’re running the Trump campaign, one of the things you have to be very concerned about is not where they are today but that the President’s performance just keeps getting worse every day,” Scarborough said.
“That he gets more out of control, unmoored, every single day with wild conspiracy theories. This really sad, sad obsession with Barack Obama. This — the lies about Michigan, attacking Michigan again. A state that Jonathan Lemire reports the Trump campaign’s concerned they’re about to lose and not get back.”
“He was at it again yesterday. So, it’s not so much that he’s down 11 points today. It’s that he just keeps getting more erratic by the day. There’s nothing that Brad [Parscale, Trump’s campaign manager] can do to control him. I know that is just driving Brad crazy.”
“Well, and think how Joe Biden has opened up an 11-point lead by doing almost nothing,” Geist said. “By doing virtual town halls from his living room, by doing interviews from his living room.”
“He hasn’t had the chance to even go out into any of these swing states. And think about what President Trump is running on. He thought he was going to have a very solid economy to run on, which he did about four months ago. And now that’s collapsed.”
