Fox’s Steve Doocy Admits TV Guests Lie: “You’re Not Under Oath”
Fox News’ Steve Doocy made an interesting admission on Wednesday during a discussion of former National Security Advisor Susan Rice. During in a Fox & Friends segment accusing Rice of lying in a TV interview, Doocy acknowledged that it happens and there’s nothing much that can be done.
“So she just told a fibaroo, no doubt about it,” Doocy said. “But when you read the classified memo or email that she sent herself it’s interesting in the second paragraph where the President, she says the President made it very clear we have got to do everything by the book and circle around to that later.”
Later in the discussion, Doocy seemed to defend Rice’s interview by saying TV guests can and do lie.
“Keep in mind, when we heard her on that TV show say no, I know nothing about that, when a person is on a TV show, being interviewed, you’re not under oath,” Doocy said,
“And so you just are gonna say what you’re gonna say, you know. It’s just one of those things. We ask questions all the time and are the people telling the truth? You hope so. But maybe not in that case.”
Doocy’s comments are especially interesting considering widespread criticism of Fox News for its questionable relationship with the truth. Fox & Friends often hosts guests who make unsubstantiated or politically slanted claims, often without significant push back from the hosts.
