Fox’s Brian Kilmeade: This Election Will Be ‘Obama Against Trump’
Fox & Friends came out swinging against former President Barack Obama on Monday after the Democrat said dropping the Michael Flynn case undermined the rule of law. The renewed attacks on Obama come as President Donald Trump accused him of plotting against him.
“President Obama is flat out wrong,” co-host Brian Kilmeade said. “I don’t know if he is ticked off or actually knew when he was on that call with the Obama alumni team that he just assumed everything is going to leak out, but I guess he has that conversation. It leaks out not only about the pandemic response from the Trump team but also about his case with Flynn.”
“He believes the rule of law is in the balance. Jonathan Turley, who’s a Democrat comes out and says the rule of law? Number one he noted this Flynn was never charged with perjury and that his claim with no precedent is wrong. All he has to do is look at Eric Holder. He said, go back 10 years United States vs. Stephens where President Obama’s own Attorney General Eric Holder asked the same judge in the Flynn case to dismiss that case. It was roughly 10 years ago so he didn’t even have to go back.”
Turley was a witness called by Republicans during the impeachment hearings. A law professor, he was widely criticized by members of his own professions for the arguments he advanced.
“He’s the law student and former law professor and he acted as if on a private call with his alumni that this never happened again,” Kilmeade said.
“But one thing is pretty clear. When this election happens and they finally kick into gear, it’s not gonna be Biden against Trump. It is gonna be Obama against Trump. And Joe Biden is just gonna be out there. That’s pretty clear.”
It’s not clear why this situation benefit Trump. Obama remains immensely popular among Democrats, many of whom didn’t turn out to vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016.
