Fox’s Brian Kilmeade Says There Are Now Enough Masks for Everyone Despite Ongoing Mask Shortage

Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade claimed on Wednesday that there are now enough protective face masks for everyone, so nobody needs to feel guilty about wearing them. This false claim was advanced during a report about President Donald Trump’s visit to a mask production facility.

“He[Trump] was out and about yesterday, took a first trip in a very long time out to Phoenix, Arizona. To tour the N95 mask plant at Honeywell,” co-host Steve Doocy said.

“And, you know, if the President is going to wear a mask anywhere, you would think it would be a mask plant and, in fact, he said if they want me to wear a mask, I’m gonna wear a mask, Brian. But, apparently honey well said visitors did not need masks. So instead the President, as you can see right there, only wore safety glasses.”

“People will focus on that and whether he should wear a mask or not,” Kilmeade said. “He decided not to wear a mask.”

“The bigger story is highlighting what was, without the Defense Production Act, they asked Honeywell to help out in a time of emergency when the pandemic hit and they stepped up and they kept a lot of people safe and secure because they’re able to produce these much needed masks at the time to the point we can all wear them without feeling guilty like we’re taking it away from a hospital worker.”

Kilmeade’s suggestion that there are now enough N95 masks for everyone is demonstrably false. As recently as this week, media reports indicated that the U.S. had imported millions of masks, not all of which were of adequate quality.
