Fox’s Ainsley Earhardt Wonders If Michael Flynn Was ‘Set Up’ Because ‘He Didn’t Go Along with Barack Obama’
As it emerged that the FBI tried to get retired Lieutenant General Michael Flynn to lie to them, personalities on Fox News did not take the information well. Despite inducing suspects to lie being a common and well-worn tactic of U.S. law enforcement, the hosts of Fox & Friends saw something even more sinister.
Notes have emerged showing the FBI tried to get Flynn to lie in a similar fashion to many other interrogations. Flynn plead guilty to making false statements to the FBI in 2017 but Fox’s Ainsley Earhardt suggested a plot involving former President Barack Obama on Thursday’s show.
“They went over to the White House – the FBI does, and they send in these agents to go and talk to him and try to coerce him into lying so they would have something against him. The question’s for the experts, why?” Earhardt said.
“Did they have a vendetta against Flynn? Is it because he didn’t go along with Barack Obama? Barack Obama fired him.”
“This is a three star general to your point, Brian. This is a guy who served our country, who has a family. His reputation was tarnished. He went through all of this, paid for all these attorney fees and this definitely looks like a set-up.”
“At least that’s what his attorney is saying, that this was an abuse of power. These leaders at the FBI and what a great organization that is. They have wonderful field offices that investigate, to keep all of us safe. And then you have these leaders that are taking advantage of their position it looks like.”
