Fox’s Brian Kilmeade Warns Bill de Blasio: Don’t Use Coronavirus as an Excuse to Bail Out Pensions
Fox News’ personality Brian Kilmeade has said New York City shouldn’t use Coronavirus as an excuse to bail out pensions. The Fox & Friends host was reiterating an argument Fox has been making for some time now – that states and localities may not deserve to be bailed out because they were irresponsible before the virus.
“Listen, I understand you want to get as much as you can but Mayor de Blasio has to understand that the President’s got 50 states to consider and more than just New York City to worry about,” Kilmeade said.
“I say that as somebody who lives in New York City. Also, they just got to also understand that they don’t use this moment to bail out pension programs who are unsustainable.”
“This city was slamming into a $6 billion deficit. Somehow there were gonna massive cuts somewhere or spending would have to decrease somewhere before this even happened. It’s gonna take a lot of deliberation and as Steve Mnuchin said it’s gonna take a bipartisan compromise.”
“A lot of these states, you gotta keep in mind, were in trouble before Corona,” co-host Ainsley Earhardt said. “You don’t want to use the Corona money to bail these states out that were in trouble because these leaders didn’t do the right thing and couldn’t control their states or couldn’t have funding for the states.”
“You don’t want to use Corona money to bail these states out that were in trouble before.”
“Keep in mind, no one is being selfish. It’s just money we don’t have,” Kilmeade agreed.
