Maddow Back On Top Wednesday Night, Leads Cable In Total Viewers
MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show was the most-watched program in cable news Wednesday night, hitting the top of the ratings for the first time since last Friday. Meanwhile, Fox News led across the board in total day and primetime while boasting the top show in the key 25-54 demographic.
According to Nielsen, Fox News drew 2.844 million total viewers and 480,000 in the key demo during the 8 PM to 11 PM primetime hours on Wednesday. MSNBC followed up with 2.457 million viewers overall and 403,000 in the demographic. CNN attracted a demo audience of 341,000 and 1.134 million total viewers.
In the 9 AM to 5 PM daytime slot, Fox News averaged 1.542 million viewers overall and 222,000 in the demo. CNN pulled in a demo viewership of 166,000 and 719,000 total viewers. MSNBC nabbed a total audience of 1.093 million and 151,000 in the 25-54 metric.
Maddow topped all of cable television Wednesday evening with 3.079 million total viewers and placed second in cable news in the key demographic (523,000). Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight took first place in the demo (546,000) and finished second in total audience (3.020 million).
Fox’s Hannity, which airs opposite Maddow at 9 PM, placed third in both the demo (470,000) and total viewership (3.008 million). FNC’s The Five finished fourth in the 25-54 category (452,000) and overall viewers (2.786 million).
The top-rated program on CNN was Cuomo Prime Time, which drew 1.198 million viewers overall. The 10 PM broadcast of CNN Tonight led in the key demo with 362,000.
