After Taking Heat For Running Trump’s Racist Ad, NBC Says It Will ‘Cease Airing It’ ASAP
Viewers who tuned into Sunday night’s marquee Patriots-Packers matchup to see future Hall of Famers Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady battle it found themselves confronted with the infamous fearmongering political ad from the Trump campaign that was deemed too racist by CNN to air.
After taking quite a bit of heat online over the decision to run the spot, an NBC spokesperson released a statement saying the network will pull the ad ASAP.
NEW NBC statement regarding the Trump immigration ad:
“After further review we recognize the insensitive nature of the ad and have decided to cease airing it across our properties as soon as possible.” – NBCUniversal Spokesperson.

“After further review we recognize the insensitive nature of the ad and have decided to cease airing it across our properties as soon as possible,” the spokesperson stated.
Well, “insensitive nature” is one way to put it, I guess.
The 30-second-ad — aired during a highly-watched primetime broadcast slot — is a pared down version of the video the president shared on his Twitter feed last week that is aimed at stoking fear and racial resentment over the Central American migrant caravan that is slowly making its way through Mexico. Besides peddling racist tropes and xenophobia, the clip the president shared falsely claimed that Democrats let an undocumented Mexican immigrant who was convicted of killing two police officers into this country and “let him stay.”
While taking out the false claim about Democrats, the network ad still tied the Democratic Party to both the death row murderer and the caravan, blaring out that “dangerous illegal criminals like cop killer Luis Bracamontes don’t care about our laws.”
Recently, presidential scion Donald Trump Jr. complained that CNN was refusing to run the immigration ad and that they only air “fake news.” CNN clapped back, stating that it wasn’t accepting the ad due to it being racist.
Watch the ad as run on NBC Sunday night above.
