CNN’s Nancy Pelosi Town Hall Least-Watched In Cable News Primetime On Wednesday

Despite soon-to-be primetime host Chris Cuomo moderating it, and CNN promoting it days in advance, Wednesday night’s town hall event with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi drew a tiny number as far as cable news primetime ratings go.

Airing at 9 PM, the program pulled in a middling 742,000 total viewers and 222,000 in the key 25-54 demographic, according to Nielsen. Not only was the town hall last in its time slot, finishing far behind cable news behemoths Sean Hannity and Rachel Maddow, it was the least-watched cable news hour in the 8 PM to 11 PM primetime time slot.

During the primetime hours, Fox News dominated in both overall viewership (2.837 million) and the demographic (542,000). MSNBC placed second in the key demo (361,000) and total viewers (1.920 million). CNN averaged 243,000 in the demographic and a total audience of 794,000.

For the entire day, Fox News led the way with 1.496 million total viewers and 301,000 in the demo. MSNBC attracted a demographic audience of 199,000 and 980,000 viewers overall. CNN pulled in a total audience of 600,000 and 178,000 in the demo.

Fox News had the three most-watched shows of the day, all in primetime. Hannity was first in both the demo (621,000) and total viewership (3.249 million). Fox’s 10 PM program, The Ingraham Angle, placed second in both metrics, drawing 2.72 million total viewers and 519,000 in the key demo. Tucker Carlson Tonight took the bronze in the demographic (485,000) and total audience (2.543 million). MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show finished fourth in overall viewership (2.461 million) and the 25-54 demo (451,000).
