Stop Blaming The Victims For Their Murders
I am sure everyone has heard of the massacre that took place in Florida by now. One can hardly escape it unless you live like a hermit. No rational person can hear about this tragedy and not feel a great deal of sympathy for the families of the dead and the survivors of this horrific act. There is no reason why we should be the only developed country in the world where this shit happens.
Don’t worry this isn’t a rant against guns, but against the people who decide that any tragedy against certain people isn’t really a tragedy at all or could have been prevented. To the people out there who think that the murder of LGBT men and women isn’t something terrible, I want to ask you, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?! I know a lot of these people think they are committing a sin against GOD, so whatever happens to them is a judgment from heaven.
I really hate to ever say anything against religion. It goes against my upbringing. However, maybe the problem isn’t in the religion, but in the people who interpret it. After all, isn’t God supposed to be the perfect judge? Doesn’t it say for men not to judge one another because you will be judged by the same measure? Or even more sternly the book says that if you judge others harshly you condemn yourself.
So when you see a message from the Duggar’s that is blithely taking a swipe at the LGBT community, one can be offended but does that mean they are blaming the victims? Of course they are. They are openly and vocally anti-gay. Still, they were fairly low key with their hate this time. I am more than willing to shake my head and realize that if the Bible is truth than they are going to have a very rough afterlife. I’ll still call it out, even though what they did was minor compared to some, because they are hateful fucks.
Next we come to one of the greatest judgmental, holier-than-thou assholes in all of existence, Pat Robertson of the 700 Club. He is practically dancing on the corpses of the dead he is so happy about the conundrum he thinks liberals are facing. How can we support both gays and Muslims after this? According to him we’ll be tearing ourselves apart trying to do both. But worse yet, the LGBT activists aligned themselves with radical Islamists and they just reaped what they sowed. In other words they got what they deserved for going completely against God and Christianity.
I know some out there are using people like this as an excuse to bash on Christians or other religious people. Please don’t. Muslims, Christians, and people all over the world prayed for the innocent dead. Some of us don’t believe that prayer does anything, but there are billions who do. Their beliefs should not be disregarded just because we do not agree with them. I still believe everyone should read the Bible and other holy books because there many things people can get from them to help you, even if it isn’t a religious belief.
There is one last group I have to bring up, and they have been recently been personified by Geraldo Rivera. These are the people who want to blame the victims for their deaths because they didn’t fight back. Sure, there are times when you have to fight back, and times when you can. This instance probably wasn’t one of them, and let me point out how and why.
Early reports said the gunman used an AR 15, but he actually had a Sig Sauer MCX. The guy walks into the club, and if you’ve ever been into any night club, it’s probably relatively dark, so you don’t see the shooter all that well. Gunfire erupts, and your first instincts are to look around because you aren’t quite sure what the sound is, unless you have heard it before. That first five seconds the average person can squeeze a semi-automatic trigger without really aiming probably about 15 times. Half of his clip is gone before the average person truly realizes what is even going on.
Those closest to the shooter have little chance to respond, especially if the shooter is actually skilled with the weapon. Since he planned this ahead of time he certainly brought numerous 30 round clips with him. Those who propose that they should have charged when he changed his clip don’t understand how quick and easy it is to do that. It takes literally a second or two at most. This is an example of an AR 15 and some will claim it isn’t same gun, but all weapons of this type are identical in this regard. As soon as you get to your feet to do something, the shooter has a fresh clip and perfect targets.
After all of this I still stand and wonder why these people and so many others blame the members of the LGBT community for dying in Florida? Are you afraid LGBT people will get some of their gay on you, and turn you into one of them? Do you think they are going to rewrite the law and force you to marry one of them? What the hell are you so damn afraid of that you feel you have to blame these people for their own deaths at the hands of a fucking madman with a gun?
Perhaps you feel I am being hypocritical and judging you. I may be, but the victims in Florida are just like you and I. They are people. They live their life the same way we do. They go to work. They have family they love, and that love them. They have friends. The difference that you seem to hate is tiny in comparison. Why in the face of such horror can you not finally see past this to recognize the humanity of the people who were taken too soon?
