Intel Official Who Briefed Trump: Four More Years of This Administration Would Be ‘Devastating’

The former deputy director of the Defense Intelligence Agency responsible for editing and delivering the president’s Daily Brief wrote an op-ed on Friday in which he called the current commander-in-chief unfit for the job.

Writing in The Denver Post, Robert Cardillo warned that another four years of the Trump administration would be “devastating” for the country.

“We must elect a thoughtful, moral, responsible, respectful leader on Nov. 3,” Cardillo summarized. “Our current president is not that leader.”

Appearing on The Rachel Maddow Show on Friday, Cardillo discussed his piece, in which he noted that Trump’s “decision to rely upon the word of dictators like Vladimir Putin is an unprecedented betrayal of his oath to the Constitution.”

Cardillo also explained that his conversations with the president were often “erratic” and “less than fully thoughtful” because Trump has difficulty absorbing information that doesn’t fit with his worldview.
