Trump Complained Female Reporters Weren’t More Like Iconic ’50s Housewife Donna Reed

President Donald Trump complained that two female reporters weren’t like a 1950s’ housewife. In an interview with the New York Post,  Trump said that two CBS journalists, Paula Reid and Wiejia Jiang, weren’t more like iconic actress Donna Reed.

“It wasn’t Donna Reed, I can tell you that,” Trump said regarding the journalists’ behavior in his recent press briefings.

Reed played the wife and mom in Christmas classic It’s a Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart and then starred in a 50s sitcom as a suburban mom in The Donna Reed Show. Through her roles, she came to be seen as the archetypal American houswife.

Paula Reid was unimpressed by the comparison and tweeted about it on Tuesday.

President Trump tells NY Post I am nothing like 50’s American archetypal mom Donna Reed. Fact-check: True,” she wrote.

The President often cites cultural references from the 1950s and ’60s. He was born on 14 June, 1946.
