New Book Claims Trump Told Generals: ‘You’re a Bunch of Dopes and Babies’

A new book about President Donald Trump’s administration, A Very Stable Genius: Donald J. Trump’s Testing of America has made some extraordinary claims about verbal attacks the President made on military top brass. Extracts published in the Washington Post say Trump mocked the generals to their faces.

During a meeting in 2017, then Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis, then Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and several very senior military officers met with Trump and tried to explain to him the value of NATO and discuss the Iran nuclear deal, but the President was not happy.

Trump repeated complaints he had before and has made since about America not winning wars anymore and wanted to seize oil in compensation for America’s actions in the Middle East,

“You’re all losers,” Trump said. “You don’t know how to win anymore.”

“We spent $7 trillion; they’re ripping us off,” Trump shouted about U.S. troops in the Persian Gulf. “Where is the fucking oil?”

Later in the meeting, his words become even more intemperate, the book claims.

“I wouldn’t go to war with you people,” he told them. “You’re a bunch of dopes and babies.”

Trump’s tirade apparently caused one female officer to cry and Tillerson shot back at Trump that he was wrong, later calling the President ‘a fucking moron.’
