President Trump Wonders If Beto O’Rourke’s Hand Gestures Mean He’s ‘Crazy’

Is a person waving his hands around when he talks a sign of mental instability? President Trump seems to think so in the case of Beto O’Rourke.

The president held a pool spray with White House reporters on Thursday morning just before a meeting with Ireland’s prime minister, Leo Varadkar. Asked for his opinion on the latest Democratic entry into the presidential field, Trump responded, “I think he has a lot of hand movement. Is he crazy or is that just the way he acts? … I’ve actually never seen anything quite like it.”

He added, “Study it. I’m sure you’ll agree.”

Needless to say, there is actual science behind people who gesture a lot while talking, and it does not indicate the presence of whatever Trump’s idea of craziness is. In fact, given that psychologists believe hand gestures help a speaker communicate thoughts more effectively, perhaps President Word Salad should give it a try occasionally.
