Worried Obama Will Roast Him Again, Trump Won’t Attend White House Correspondents’ Dinner

Well, it looks like President Obama will have to find a new target for his sick burns at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner later this month.

Per The Hill, GOP Presidential frontrunner and thin-skinned Oompa Loompa Donald Trump has decided against attending the dinner this year. The former reality TV star claimed that he had been extended an invitation by every media outlet imaginable. However, he doesn’t want to go because even though he’s sure he’ll have a good time, he’s positive the press will just lie to make him look bad.

“I was asked by every single group of media available to mankind [to attend this year]. But I’ve decided not to go. Do you know why? I would have a good time and the press would say I look like I wasn’t having a good time.”

Back in 2011, Trump attended the event during a period of time where he was flirting with a White House run. At that time, he had hitched himself to the birther movement, claiming POTUS was born in Kenya and had investigators finding all sorts of unbelievable evidence. He was making the media rounds and early polls showed him in the lead among GOP candidates.

Of course, this all came crashing down at the WHCD, when Obama viciously mocked him in front of a room full of media personalities and politicians. The look on Trump’s face was priceless as he just sat there with a scowl while the President tossed bomb after bomb his way. Below is video of the roasting:

Now, according to Trump now, he had a good time and enjoyed Obama’s jokes, but the press lied about how mad he was.

“I had a great time. I was very honored by all of the attention. The president told joke after joke and it was good. They were all very nice and delivered nicely and I had a great time and told the press. For four years, I’ve read what a miserable time I had.

The press is dishonest. If the press would be honest, I’d go because I’d have a good time. … But no matter how good a time I had, the press would say, ‘Donald Trump was miserable.’ What would I need that for?”

Yet, our lying eyes aren’t lying to us this time, Donald. We all saw how pissed you were, and you summarily dropped the idea of running for president right after that smackdown. As theorized earlier this year by the New York Times and Washington Post, it seems like the embarrassment of the dinner was what led to you running this year, as you wanted to finally get back at those who treated you as a joke.

Writing about Trump’s Tuesday win in the New Hampshire primary, Maggie Haberman of the New York Times claims that “the roots of his candidacy can be traced to May 2011, when President Obama, during his address at the White House correspondents’ dinner, put a picture of his Hawaiian birth certificate on a large screen.” Obama proceeded to mock Trump, who had been fanning the flames of the birther set.

Trump sat silent as the crowd of thousands laughed. “Five years later, he seems determined not to be humiliated again, and to stop those who laughed at him,” Haberman wrote.

With the dinner being held just ahead of the Indiana GOP primary, Trump isn’t going to risk Obama laying some sick burns on him again. He’s not running against POTUS this time around, who obviously has his number and who’s already proven to him that he’s far too slick and charismatic for him to handle. So no point getting his lunch handed to him for all the world to see.
