Unsurprisingly, Conservatives Use Mizzou Protests To Fearmonger Over Race And PC Culture

Raise your hand if you didn’t see this coming. After the University of Missouri system president Tim Wolfe announced his resignation in the face of protests and intense criticism over his handling of racial issues on the Columbia campus, a number of prominent right-wing media members immediately started with the race-baiting fearmongering and complaints about political correctness that has typified the conservative movement for some time now. Taking cues from the Limbaughs and Becks, conservatives took to Twitter to whine about the imminent destruction of the United States.

The issues revolving around racism at Mizzou had been brewing for a while as there were reported instances of incidents on campus over the past few months, culminating with the drawing of a swastika in human feces in a dormitory bathroom. Due to black students’ feelings that Wolfe was not properly addressing the racial tension at the university — a school where 77% of the student body is white while only 7% is black — graduate student Jonathan Butler decided to go on a hunger strike earlier this month. The death knell for Wolfe came when the black members of the football team went on strike and faculty members said they would take part in a two-day walkout.

On The Rush Limbaugh Show, host Rush Limbaugh claimed that Wolfe “resigned for committing the crime of being a white male.” He also told his audience that this was the end of college football as we know it because of “liberalism.” The conservative gasbag also claimed that this all came down because the black students at the school feel there are “too many white people in this place” and they aren’t nice enough to the few blacks on campus.

Of course, El Rushbo was far from the only one in the Conservative Entertainment Complex with an opinion of the historic event. The Blaze’s Glenn Beck said he actually supported the protests because it reveals that universities are environments where the students are too coddled these days. Therefore, administrators need to have the students turn on them when they aren’t coddled enough to realize that they need to stop all of the progressivism running amuck on campuses now.

Over at Erick Erickson’s cesspool known as RedState, contributor Leon Wolf wrote a column calling the football players on strike “cowardly liberal lazy douchebags” and comparing them with terrorists. Texas radio host and White History Month celebrator Michael Berry labeled the striking athletes “thugs” and said they need to “shut their mouth and play football.” He also compared the university to Neville Chamberlain and said that this will have huge repercussions in the future as blacks will now think they can bully anyone to get what they want. The white guy who makes a living ranting about nonsense for a couple of hours a day then yelled about how this country was built on merit and people need to just shut up about race.

Besides right-wingers using the airwaves to whine about PC culture and entitled blacks getting their way all the time, quite a few conservatives took to Twitter to bemoan Wolfe’s resignation and complain about liberals ruining everything.

Yep, the butthurt is strong on the right today.
