Jason Miller Falsely Claims Counting Votes After Election Night Means Democrats Are Trying to ‘Steal’ Election

Trump adviser Jason Miller incorrectly claimed Sunday that counting votes after November 3 would constitute a Democratic attempt to “steal” the election.

Appearing on ABC’s This Week, Miller told George Stephanopoulos that he’s talked with “many smart Democrats” who allegedly believe President Trump “will be ahead on election night, probably getting 280 electoral [votes].” Miller added: “And then they’re going to try to steal it back after the election.”

“We believe that we will be over 290 electoral votes on election night,” Miller continued. “So no matter what they try to do, what kind of hijinks or lawsuits or whatever kind of nonsense they try to pull off, we’re still going to have enough electoral votes to get President Trump reelected.”

It is a known fact that many states will not be able to deliver a final vote count on election night. Pennsylvania, for instance, does not even begin to count its absentee ballots until the morning of the election. Additionally, that state’s deadline for receiving most mail ballots is Friday, Nov. 6.

In New York, the state’s Board of Elections estimated that counting may not be wrapped up until the middle of December.
