Media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s youngest son resigned from the board of directors of News Corp on Friday, citing “disagreements over certain editorial content published” as well as “certain other strategic decisions.”

James Murdoch had stayed on the board of News Corp despite already having left Fox Corporation, with the idea being to “test[] the proposition of making change from the inside,” as one source told CNN in an interview a few months ago.

James has clashed with the political views of his father and older brother Lachlan, the current CEO of Fox Corporation. He donated to Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg’s campaign and has criticized News Corp’s coverage of climate change.

A spokesperson for James and his wife Kathryn told The Daily Beast during Australia’s bushfire crisis in January that they are “particularly disappointed with the ongoing denial among the news outlets in Australia given obvious evidence to the contrary.”

The News Corp publishing group includes The Wall Street Journal and The New York Post, as well as book publisher HarperCollins and several British and Australian newspapers.

The couple has also donated more than $1.2 million to the Biden campaign, according to FEC records.
