Fox’s Brian Kilmeade: Schools Should Reopen Because Kids Need to Learn ‘Life is Full of Risk’

Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade suggested on Wednesday that schools should reopen in September as a lesson to children about how risky life can be. The Fox & Friends host echoed President Donald Trump’s insistence that schools should be reopening despite the ongoing pandemic, which may see a second wave in the fall.

The hosts showed a clip of a pediatrician advocating for schools to reopen and arguing that children are less at risk from the virus. There is, however, little public health consensus on the dangers to children and some indications that Coronavirus could be very bad for them.

“There is just no question,” Kilmeade said. “The kids benefit in school. Life is full of risk. Kids should learn that early, that life is if full of hurdles, gotta find a way to overcome.”

“We’ve had five or six months. We’ve been hearing about this since February. Institute a lock down since March. We have to get ready by September.”

“This is not Ebola, it’s the Coronavirus. Mostly kids, 99.9% of kids won’t be affected by it at all.”

Kilmeade did not offer evidence for this figure.

“We know about the transference and rarity. This is a risk that has to be taken. I think kids get used to not taking things for granted. They’re getting the message.”

“We gotta adopt that military attitude,” Kilmeade went on. “They don’t complain. They find a way to do it.”
