‘Dozens’ of Secret Service Agents Are Self-Isolating after Attending Trump’s Tulsa Rally

An unspecified number of Secret Service personnel are self-isolating following President Donald Trump’s rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma over the weekend. Though the exact number hasn’t been released, reports claim that ‘dozens’ of people have been advised to isolate.

Trump held a sparsely attended rally despite warnings about Coronavirus and even downplayed the need for testing during the event. The risk of contracting Covid-19 led to criticism of the event, including from one Fox News personality.

Six members of Trump’s team had already tested positive for Covid-19 before the rally. The Secret Service hasn’t released the exact number of people who are self-isolating but an official told CNN that the number is in the ‘low’ dozens.

However, the Secret Service is “prepared and staffed to fulfill all of the various duties as required”, according to spokesperson Catherine Milhoan.

“Any implication that the agency is in some way unprepared or incapable of executing our mission would be inaccurate,” Milhoan said.

“To protect the privacy of our employees’ health information and for operational security, the Secret Service is not releasing how many of its employees have tested positive for COVID-19, nor how many of its employees were, or currently are, quarantined,” she said.

The President held another event this week following his rally in Tulsa. He spoke to 3,000 ‘Students for Trump’ in a church in Phoenix, Arizona – a state that’s suffering severely from the Coronavirus pandemic.
