Trump Will ‘Relaunch’ His Reelection Campaign in Coronavirus-Stricken Arizona Today

President Donald Trump will try to relaunch his reelection bid on Tuesday following a sparsely attended rally over the weekend. Trump’s event in Tulsa was so poorly attended the President was reportedly ‘furious’ at campaign manager Brad Parscale.

Trump will travel to Phoenix, Arizona today to speak at a Students for Trump event, despite the fact the state is ravaged by Covid-19. He’s set to celebrate the 200th mile of U.S.-Mexico border wall, which was a centerpiece of his 2016 campaign. The southern border is more than 2,000 miles long.

It also isn’t clear when Trump’s next campaign rally will take or where. Fallout from Tulsa continued on Monday amid reports that Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are ‘pissed’ with Parscale and that the campaign manager might be replaced. Tuesday’s event is being billed as a ‘relaunch of a relaunch.’

Larry Sabato, Director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia and an avid polling prognosticator, offered a grim assessment of the Trump campaign’s strategy.

“From what I’ve been told, Trump just insists on these rallies and he wants more and not fewer compared to 2016 because he’s got all of the trappings of office and he can fly Air Force One low so people can be awed and all the rest of it,” Sabato told The Guardian.

“Obviously, he didn’t calculate properly for the pandemic and other factors,” he said. “He thinks they can correct it and go on. He wants one every couple of weeks or more frequently. He didn’t learn a thing. His campaign staff would gladly give them up, along with the tweets, if they could. But they can’t.”

The President is trailing former Vice President Joe Biden in every major national poll and in some polling in crucial swing states as well.
