One of Trump’s White House Valets Has Tested Positive for Coronavirus

One of President Donald Trump’s personal valets has tested positive for Covid-19, it was revealed on Thursday. The valets are part of an elite military unit at the White House who frequently work closely with the President and his family.

“We were recently notified by the White House Medical Unit that a member of the United States Military, who works on the White House campus, has tested positive for Coronavirus,” Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley said in a statement.

“The President and the Vice President have since tested negative for the virus and they remain in great health.”

CNN reports that the news was ‘hitting the fan’ in the White House on Wednesday when Trump was informed that someone close to him had tested positive for the virus. The valet, who is a man, has not been identified and the situation is developing.

Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are still receiving weekly tests for the disease. They, and others, may have regularly interacted with the man. The President was previously keen to stress that he did not have Coronavirus, though initially demurred on being tested.
