Mika Brzezinski: Trump ‘Can’t Even Feign Empathy’ for Coronavirus Victims

MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski accused President Donald Trump of not showing any empathy for the more than 55,000 Americans who have died from Covid-19. The Morning Joe host said the President couldn’t even pretend to feel for those who had died and their loved ones.

The Morning Joe hosts showed a clip of Trump responding to a question about whether he had spoken to families who had lost loved ones.

“So the question was about people who died and had you spoken to any,” Brzezinski said. “And he can’t do it. He can’t — he just can’t do it. He’s uncomfortable or it’s impossible for him and I’m not sure which is worse.”

“Or maybe he hasn’t spoken to the families,” co-host Joe Scarborough said.

“You have an opportunity to speak to the historic number of people, it matches the number of people lost in the Vietnam War. You have an opportunity to speak to the loss, the humanity of this, the pain of this, the unbelievable impact it will have on generations. You can’t do it.”

“You pivot to schools opening and computers and tele-learning and then this guy, wow! I mean, it’s — It’s impossible to know somebody who disappoints you more every single day than this president.”

“And, Joe, that was — that was pathetic. That was really sad that he can’t even feign empathy. He can’t try to feign empathy. He won’t do it.”

“They tried at the press conference yesterday by having him read a couple of lines which he read very poorly,” Scarborough said.
