New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on Coronavirus: “My Mother Is Not Expendable!”

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo delivered some pointed remarks about the ongoing Covid-19 global pandemic on Tuesday. As President Donald Trump and conservatives in his orbit suggest ‘re-opening’ the economy regardless of the potential deaths, Cuomo struck entirely the opposite tone.

The Democrat, who has been criticized by Trump during this crisis, directly addressed the issue of elderly people dying from the disease.

“My mother is not expendable!” Cuomo said. “And your mother is not expendable.”

“And our brothers and sisters are not expendable. And we’re not going to accept a premise that human life is disposable.”

Cuomo’s stark comments come as President Trump is increasingly becoming convinced that restrictions negatively affecting the economy should be lifted. Before Cuomo’s remarks on Tuesday, Trump had tweeted: “Our people want to return to work. They will practice Social Distancing and all else, and Seniors will be watched over protectively & lovingly. We can do two things together.”
