Elizabeth Warren Will Drop Out of the Presidential Race

Senator Elizabeth Warren is set to drop out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, it has emerged. The Massachusetts senator is due to have a conference call with all her campaign staff followed by a visit to her headquarters in Charleston.

Warren failed to win her home state of Massachusetts on Super Tuesday but has been credited with significantly damaged billionaire former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, leading to his poor performance and dropping out on Wednesday.

Her decision now effectively makes the Democratic primaries a two horse race between former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders, with Biden a clear front runner. It is not yet clear if Warren will endorse one of her rivals at this stage.

The question now becomes whether Sanders can attract Warren’s voters. The two candidates share broad policy positions, though Warren supporters have argued her plans were more concrete than Sanders’ rhetoric.
