Obama Campaign Manager Warns: 2020 Election ‘Will Be Razor Thin’

The campaign manager for Barack Obama’s successful 2008 election has warned that the 2020 election will extremely close and people should become active if they want a Democrat to win the White House. David Plouffe told MSNBC’s Morning Joe that his party is at a disadvantage.

Plouffe was discussing his new book he wrote “really for people who have not been deeply involved in politics.”

“Maybe have given money but haven’t volunteered and really capture why their individual effort, whether it’s being smart about creating content and sharing it on social media, signing up to be a volunteer leader in you live in a battleground state. If you don’t live in a battleground state all the things you can do to make an impact.”

“Because this election, we better assume, will be razor thin,” Plouffe said. “Democrats right now, despite the compliment you gave earlier, Joe, we don’t have Fox or Sinclair or the Russians or an incumbent president with billions of dollars.”

“So we’re gonna have to be relying on a citizen army, so to speak, of people who are making the case each and every day and I just wanted to capture why that matters. Because when people go out knock on doors in Wisconsin and Michigan and they talk to two or three people in an afternoon that can seem like not a lot.”

“But when you think about that in aggregate and thousands of people are doing a similar thing that day, that make as huge difference. So that’s really the message of the book is you have a responsibility. You don’t want to wake up on November 4 if Donald Trump has walked across the stage at Mar-a-Lago and declared himself a winner for a second term and you think, there’s more I could have done.”
