Trump: Intel Community Told Sanders About Russian Interference But ‘Nobody Ever Told Me’

President Donald Trump has used a press conference in India to claim that he was not informed about Russian meddling in the 2020 presidential election. Trump said that Senator Bernie Sanders had been informed that the country wanted to aid him, but denied he’d been told anything.

The President appeared to be referring to officials in the U.S. Intel Community when he made the remarks in response to a question about Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“They went to see Bernie and they told Bernie about something having to do with they want Bernie to win,” Trump said.

“They did not tell me. Intelligence never told me and we have a couple people here that would know very well. They never told me anything about that. And it was sort of a strange thing that they went to Bernie and now I find out.”

“It was highly exaggerated and frankly, I think it’s disgraceful,” he said.

He went on to claim yet again that Congressman Adam Schiff had leaked information about the intelligence assessment and downplayed the threat of Russian interference.

“And they didn’t stay about me,” Trump said. “Somebody leaked it in intelligence but nobody ever told me that.”

It is extremely unlikely that Trump was not informed about Russian interference. In fact, recent reports claim that Republicans were unhappy with the Intel Community telling Trump that Russia was favoring his reelection.
