Part of Trump’s Border Wall Falls Over in the Wind

A part of the border wall between the U.S. and Mexico has been blown over in high winds. The steel panels between Calexico in California and Mexicali in Mexico fell over in the face of the wind during their installation. The incident was reported by the Border Patrol.

Thee 30ft tall panels began to lean over in the wind while they were being placed in concrete but they fell over before the concrete could harden.

“Luckily, Mexican authorities responded quickly and were able to divert traffic from the nearby street,” Border Patrol agent Carlos Pitones told the LA Times.

The steel panels had to be retrieved from Mexico before they could be put back in place.

“CBP will work with the construction contractor to mitigate the impact of high winds as construction continues,” the border agent said.

President Donald Trump made a wall along the Mexican border one of the main promises of his election campaign. Three years after his inauguration, however, only very limited sections of the wall have been completed, while some pre-existing barriers have been upgraded.
